Carter Myers 45th Anniversary

H. Carter Myers III Celebrates 45 Years in the Family Business!

H. Carter Myers is the third generation of his family to lead Carter Myers Automotive, a group of family and employee-owned dealerships serving Central Virginia for more than 85 years. His grandfather founded Petersburg Motor Company in 1924. His father, H. Carter Myers, Jr. and his Aunt Elizabeth kept the business going throughout the Great Depression and World War II. And in 1965, H. Carter Myers III joined the team.

In November 2010, Mr. Myers celebrated 45 years in the family business. He joined Carter Myers Automotive after graduating from the UVA McIntire School of Commerce. He was elected President of CMA in 1974 and is now Chief Executive Officer. Throughout his career, Mr. Myers has been very active in the automotive industry. He served as President of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association in 1994 and as Chair of the National Automobile Dealers Association in 2002. Eventually, Mr. Myers will hand the CMA reins over to his daughter, Liza Myers Borches.

Carter Myers Automotive is still a family business and now has 8 dealerships serving Central Virginia. In Charlottesville, they have Colonial Auto Center and Volvo of Charlottesville. In Staunton they operate Valley Honda, Valley VW and Valley RV. And in Richmond they have Colonial Honda, Gateway Hyundai and Heritage Chevrolet.
